Intro To Vaping Devices
If you’re new to vaping there are so many variables it can all become a bit daunting and overwhelming. Knowing where to start is the hardest part of the journey. I was fortunate starting out as a friend helped me out by giving great advice and loaning me a mod. It didn’t take long to decide that the cigarettes had to go for good.
Where To Start
My vaping journey really began by reading a few articles online on the basics of vaping. I checked out some of the many YouTube vaper reviewer channels to get as savvy as I could. If you don’t have the time to go online an alternative way to get advice is to visit your local vape store. They offer friendly helpful advice and stock a variety of devices to suit all levels of vaping. They also stock a range of e-juices and in some will allow you to try before you buy. This, however, won’t always help you to make the right decision on the juice you purchase. To explain, when trying different juices your taste buds can become confused. This is one reason that prompted me to start the E-Juice Junkie website. My aim is to help take some of the guesswork out of buying the right juices and hopefully save you time and money along the way.
What's My Mod
The first thing you will need to purchase is a vaping device. There’s a vast array of different to choose from, I won’t list them all here but I’ll just stick with the main ones to keep it simple. The list kicks off at the beginner level all the way up to the advanced vaper.
Sticks / Pens / Pods – Entry / Beginners
Regulated mods / sub-ohm tanks – Intermediates
Regulated / Unregulated / Mech / Squonker Mods RDA RTA – Advanced users.
Regulated Mods For Beginners
In the main, there are two types of mod devices that are available to buy. If you are new to the vaping world a regulated mod is the way to go. A regulated device incorporates a microchip that gives a regulated power supply to the atomizer. The regulated chip prevents any problems with overloading the battery and the potential for short circuits or possibly even worse an explosion. In a nutshell, it’s a safe way to vape.
Mechanical Mods For Advanced Users
Mechanical mods or Mech Mods as they are known, don’t have safety features built in. Mech’s really is only recommended for experienced vapers with knowledge of the ohms law. There is also a subcategory which is an unregulated Mod, they give a degree of protection but are not suited to the Beginner vaper.
All About MTL DTL ???
One of the best pieces of advice I can give you if you’re new to vaping or have been a smoker is to get yourself an MTL regulated device. MTL is short for ‘mouth to lung’ the more experienced vapers on the whole use DTL or ‘direct to lung’ devices for a bigger vape hit.
MTL atomisers give a more restrictive airflow or “draw” as it’s commonly known. This type of draw is similar to smoking a cigarette. MTL devices are a good option when you start out vaping. This is especially true if you are a former smoker because the vapour goes to your mouth as opposed to DTL devices that go straight to the lungs.
DTL atomisers give a greater vapour production, this is because there’s a wider airflow than the restrictive MTL atomiser. When you inhale the vapour goes directly to the lungs using a DTL atomiser. Many smokers can find it hard to adjust to this style of vaping to start with as it can cause coughing. Once accustomed to vaping many people move on to DTL devices for the direct to lung hit. There are no hard and fast rules but this is just to give a guide.
